Here's Claire, with yet another victim. This time it's one Joel Emmett, a fellow Brookside Elementary School graduate, BYU faculty child, current co-ed soccer teammate, and, who knows, quite possible future criminal.

Sweethearts, indeed!

Kolob 2nd Ward Bulletin, February 2019 edition

Our good friend and neighbour Jana Longhurst edits a monthly newsletter for our LDS ward/congregation. It started in January of 2018, so its 14th number was just published. Sister Jana thought it'd be a good idea this time to feature our family, for the usual getting-to-know-you segment of this month's go-round. Drew got the assignment, and this is the result.

So, feel the love (or whatever else it might be that roils around in that heart of hers ...)

Meet the Duncans!by Drew Duncan

EDITOR'S NOTE: When I told Bishop Duncan it was high time we heard about his family, he pointed me to his daughter, Drew, who happens to be a very talented writer with a quick and comedic wit. Reading her version of their family history gives an extra insight into this smart and talented family who serves our ward with all their might. The Duncans haven't seen this yet, so I hope they find it as entertaining as I did!

Dean and Sharon Duncan have lived at their home in Springville for 24 years. Although you're probably only aware of two, they actually have six children, four girls and two boys, all of which are very attractive and successful. They have two grandchildren, Lucy and Luca, and are hoping their eventual third will be named Lucifer.

Dean grew up in Edmonton Alberta, while Sharon was raised in La Cañada, California, so they obviously have a lot in common. They met in the heady, sensual atmosphere of Brigham Young University and were married in 1988.  They moved to Springville in 1992 after Dean got a job teaching in the BYU film program.

Dean enjoys reading, napping, contemplating the rain, watching hockey, wearing clothes long past their expiration date, whole milk, and disapproving of festive and/or lively activities. Sharon enjoys running, gardening, coaching every sports team she possibly can, telling her children to gargle with salt water, being the only person at city council meetings, and falling asleep with her mouth open.

Dean and Sharon love their neighborhood and were excited to befriend even more of their neighbors after the ward boundaries changed. They love the 2nd Ward and everyone in it.

We Love the Duncans!!

New (but not the cat)

A veteran, and his decorations

Spencer has been working at the ol' Harold B. Lee Library for quite a while now. Kind of like the man who planted trees (but then again, kind of not like), he's been accumulating competencies, all over the place. If you ask him, maybe he will tell you what each of these buttons means, and what manner of bibliographical beneficence might follow, as a result. Forms of heroism ...

Cats

As everyone knows, Milo has a lot of outposts around here. In these last weeks, though, he seems to have settled most particularly on one particular favourite. The future, it would seem:
