Good thoughts from our two good missionaries

Sarah is in Lokeren, Belgium, working with a new companion who is trying to figure things out. Who isn't? She is proceeding gently, and wisely.

I'm learning about the many forms of missionary work, and that it's possible to work regardless of circumstance. We can work through service, through prayer, through being attentive and a good listener. I need to do better with recognizing the smaller tasks that God puts before me instead of seeking the bigger ones, otherwise I'm going to be very disappointed for a while.

Spencer is still in Perpignan, way down in the very southernmost part of France. He has a great first companion, and they are working hard and having fun together. And traveling to amazing places! Here he is with his own wise, gentle, ecumenical thoughts.

“‘Ready for the gospel’ is an interesting thing. I've learned to recognize how important this particular church is with all its authority and fullness of the gospel. You can really tell when people are ready, close to ready, or not ready when you talk to them. But we're also really excited when we meet someone who's really strong in their own religion. Practicing Catholics and Muslims are the nicest people. And we're happy not to force things down their throats because we can see they're happy where they are and are really trying to follow the teachings they've been given. And when the time comes, they probably will accept the gospel. Hooray!”
