Serious thing

Were sorry to report that a few weeks ago—after, quite possibly caused by a particularly obnoxious loss by the perennially frustrating Edmonton OilersGrandpa Duncan had a stroke. We're distressed to report that the first one has been followed by more. Dad/Dean flew up to Edmonton to visit, to stand by, to offer support, to express all of our love.

When Dad/Dean arrived, there were some concerning signs! This sign at the hospital, for instance:

After that, though, reassurance. Miracles even! A certain clot-busting drug, for instance, that rolled some of those distressing stroke manifestations right back. We all felt very anxious, and we all felt very grateful.

Grandpa gave us permission to take this photograph. He was doing pretty well!

After a lot of back and forth, eventually, the doctors decided that it was time to send Grandpa home. Again, we felt simultaneously nervous and grateful.

This has been a big setback, with big blessings attached. There were many reunions, dear conversations, expression of regard and resolve. Look at this brave image, for instance. Two elderly folks, carrying on together!
