We passed between the Grande and Petit Palaces, to the left and to the right, both built for the Paris Exposition of 1900. We walked the long promenade along the banks of the Seine, on the north side. We turned up to Les Invalides, and then crossed over—on the beautiful Pont Alexandre II, with the river positively shimmering all the way into the vanishing west.
We managed to make our way safely across the enormous Place de la Concord. We strolled through the Tuilerie Gardens.
